From the Denver Post blog:
This is how an American soldier is made.
For 27 months, Ian Fisher, his parents and friends, and the U.S. Army allowed Denver Post reporters and a photographer to watch and chronicle his recruitment, induction, training, deployment, and, finally, his return from combat. A selection of photos from Ian’s journey are posted below.
The story was written by Kevin Simpson with Michael Riley, Bruce Finley and Craig F. Walker. It was reported by Riley in Colorado and at Fort Benning, Ga., Finley at Fort Carson and in Iraq, and photographer Craig F. Walker throughout.
This is such an awesome photo series of a real life soldier… The photographs are well shot and documented. Make sure you read the captions!
The full photo series can be found here.

If you like photos of a real life soldier, check out Michael Yon, a freelance writer who has been embedded in many units in Iraq and Afghanistan. He even has some photos of real life battles with live fire.

Cool! Thanks for the link :)
It was a great series of photos, but I feel like I was missing out on a full story somewhere because of some of the time lapses between photos. He sure got married quick (and went through… 3 girls?).
If you go to the actual site for the project, there are a lot more photos… I, too, was confused by the relationship sequence… I had to keep checking the dates on the photos lol
