The glue fell off!!

Jul 27 2010

Day 10 of the toe adventure… the glue peeled off after I showered. The water seeped in the edges so it peeled off a good amount and I did the rest since I didn’t want it to just stay like that. The human body is amazing… there was a clump of sand that my body had expelled at the base of the cut. I spent 15 minutes cleaning as much of it away as I could. If you look at the photo, there’s still some left under the flap towards the middle. When I had originally rinsed out the cut, I thought I’d gotten all the sand… but sand does find it’s way into everything and I guess there was still a decent amount in there. I’m really fortunate that it didn’t get infected! This glue was amazing.

A week later…

Jul 24 2010

Looks gnarly but I think it’s just because everything that’s been going on has been stuck under the dermabond. It should be coming off soon and then I can clean it. So much bandage fuzz around it haha… the glue from it is sooo sticky. I think I’ve escaped infection for now and for that I’m extremely grateful.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (movie)

Jul 21 2010

Wow this movie did NO justice to the books. The books were so good and this movie’s version of the first book’s story was soooo weak – no depth to the characters at all. I’m disappointed. Haha I’m typing this on my phone instead if watching the end. Logan Lerman’s cute, but man, what a bad movie.

Antsy

You’d think that given the fact that I’m stuck at home and can’t do much because of the cut on my toe that I’d take advantage of the mandatory quiet time and redo my portfolio and work on Flickrview and Project Stickies, but instead I find myself sitting in front of my laptop ADD style, bouncing from Google Reader to Facebook and back again. I attribute it to part anxiety over my toe and whether it will get infected and whether the nerve will heal to 100%, and part anxiety over having to postpone the job application process because I’m so immobile. Feels like I can’t sit still, yet I AM sitting still with my foot elevated. I’m just bouncing from site to site online. I wonder if this was part of God’s plan to force me to slow down and not jump immediately from the consulting burnout to a full-time job. As I can clearly see his hand in my journey back to church, I tend to feel that this is the case. A blessing in disguise, right? ;P

I need to focus enough in the next few hours to finish off the youth t-shirts. It’s getting to be crunch time for them to get printed! These have been the most difficult to design for, with multiple people contributing in the end, but I can’t wait for retreat! :)

Shock and awe

Jul 18 2010

I am shocked at the freak rock that I stepped on at Coronado beach that was hidden underneath the sand and that my poor foot found while we were throwing a FOOTBALL around. I hadn’t even touched the water yet. I am in awe at how far I could split my skin apart. I think football is my krypyonite and I think I might avoid playing it this season. Badly sprained ankle, really badly sprained finger that is forever crooked now, and now the laceration on my foot and the numbness in my toe (although not officially connected to playing football haha). I have to remember that I’m not as young or as spry as I used to be :(

Here’s a photo post-liquid bandage. That stuff is AWESOME. Oh and FYI if you think you need stitches, don’t wait longer than 12 hours because then they can’t do stitches since the possibility of infection goes up a lot.
