The sky and ocean looked interesting today. Too bad I didn’t bring my camera to work.

This weather kinda matches my mood…

Geeking out

Oct 12 2010

So I’ve been geeking out all morning and reading up on the latest about CSS3 and HTML5 and just viewing awesome demo after awesome demo. Can’t wait to dig in and experiment a bit on my own. Just thinking back to when I first started working at Veoh and what I was capable of doing with CSS, and then fast-forwarding to 4 years later and looking at what’s possible and what’s potential for the future… it’s so intriguing and exciting to me. It makes me want to rush home, hole myself up in my apartment, and code away haha.

Take this for example: http://graphicpeel.com/cssiosicons
Pure CSS/HTML icons with NO images. Looks as good as the icons on an iPhone do! *drool* Pretty amazing!

After feeling so removed from the enthusiasm I used to have over CSS, I can feel the familiar excitement and eagerness of using and playing with CSS coming back again :)

Ok, let’s remember the golden rule of emails…

Oct 7 2010
  • If it looks like spam or a virus generated email, it probably is.
  • Emails without a subject line should be shooting off red flags (and therefore you should never send an email without a relevant subject).
  • Emails without body text or where the text just includes some link should also shoot off red flags.
  • I will always tell you why I sent you a link if I do send you one. You should expect others to do the same, otherwise it’s better to be safe than sorry and just delete the email.
  • And last but not least, always ask the sender first BEFORE YOU CLICK ON THE LINK if you are unsure!! Regardless of who else is included on the To: list!!!

It’s been one hell of a morning doing damage control and I’m a little shocked at how many people clicked on the emails that got blasted from my hacked account. Luckily, so far it seems that no harm was done by clicking on the link, but I still have no idea how my account was compromised.

Seems like the energy spent to create these things would seriously be better used on other more important issues.

I ordered an intervelometer so I could take real time-lapses and edit them more easily. This app is cool, but it hasn’t been updated in like a year and a few of the upload options are busted. I wish the developers would work on it… it’s by far the best time-lapse app in the app store and has the best UI/features… what a pity. Anyways, can’t wait for the intervelometer to arrive!
