New portfolio in progress…

I put together a placeholder landing page for my portfolio to replace the half-completed portfolio I made more than a year ago. Thought the “coming soon! 2007″ thing was getting old… now it’ll say “coming soon! 2008″ instead :P

The final layout will probably be pretty close to this placeholder, but I still need to work out how I want the JavaScript to interact. My goal is to make my portfolio feel like it’s made in flash, but it won’t be :)

I also will be revamping this blog because I want to dig into the Wordpress docs more deeply and write a fully customized blog + layout… just need to find the time, of course.

MULT 122 Final – Holiday Card

This is the Holiday Card I made for the final. The specifications were for a generic holiday card greeting and we’d been going to the beach just about every day of the week, so I felt inspired to share the joys of being in San Diego for the holidays :P This illustration took the longest out of the 4… I spent an entire day + a few more hours for touch ups and this was the first of the four that I finished. This card was pretty much my experimentation starting point for all the Illustrator tools, since I was starting from scratch, without a set of base files to go off of like in the HW assignments. :)

MULT 122 Final – Illustration

This is the illustration that I did for that portion of the final… I wanted to create a wallpaper and I figured it’d be easier to create my own illustration rather than recreate a photograph. This illustration started with my experimenting with the rotate tool and feathering, which resulted in the sun (which I felt I needed to use). There are 2 different textures overlayed on top of the illustration itself. Without the textures, the whole image seemed very smooth, which didn’t look that bad, but I liked the added depth the textures gave it.

The birds, which bothered me the most, were created with a scatter brush I made (needed to use differing techniques on all my projects for this class).

MULT 112 Final – Portfolio Flash Site

Sadly, I didn’t manage to finish this final project before it was due at midnight. I was trying for too much and too tired from the Illustrator projects. Unfortunately, I got stuck on a bug for quite sometime before I realized I was just missing a stop() action, lol :X Don’t know what kind of grade I’ll get because I didn’t manage to put in all of the minimum requirements, but this is what I’ve got:

I guess now I can take my time to fix up things on it… like move the tabs to the top… looks weird on an actual web page on the side because it doesn’t expand all the way. I also had wanted to add more smooth transitions, and I need to optimize the initial loading/splash animation.

Time to sleep.

[EDIT] The contact form doesn’t actually work just yet… haha it’s not done :P
