Back in the states!

Nov 22 2009

I had an incredible time… it was definitely worth every penny and every drop of sweat haha :) Now, I’m working on organizing my photos and catching up on everything… so much work to do already lol. Hopefully I can blog and upload photos within the next couple of days so I can start doing some of the tons of work that’s waiting for me :T Life never takes a break haha… but this trip made me really appreciate all that I have and I’m thankful I was able to be a part of such a big event in our homeowners’ lives. I’m going to try and do either a JRCWP or a Global Village trip every year. I think everyone should do at least one in their life… it’s a really incredible and worthwhile experience and totally doable if you plan for it! :) I hope for my next trip I can convince some of my friends to come out with me :P

Taiwan: 1st Full Day

Feb 4 2009

Survived finding the bus stop and asking a zillion people for directions. Amazing what I can speak in Mandarin when survival’s on the line haha. If I really did live here for a few months, I bet my Mandarin could improve ten-fold… it’s tempting.

I decided to just stick the photos up on Picasa and link to them from there. Makes it easier and quicker to get them up. Picasa messes up the photo quality, but I’ll just add the better photos to Flickr when I get back.

Went to the morning marketplace near An-he and Tong-hua. Not nearly as packed as a night-market is, but just as interesting to see. LOTS of good food. I swear 90% of my trips to Taiwan are just about the food haha.

The wind dampener inside of Taipei 101. An engineering marvel… and pretty, too haha

The fence around the observation deck. It makes humming sound because of all the wind on the north side.

Nerves

Feb 2 2009

I’m nervous :X This will be the first time going without a planned tour or a planned cultural camp or even a person who speaks Mandarin fluently. Haha my mom is prepping me with emergency phone numbers to call, but first things first is I’d need a means to make the call! :P Also there’s this weird area code you need when you’re in one place, but now when you’re in another… and times when you add a 0 and times you don’t. Heh, I think my parents are just making me nervous. I’ve arrived in Taiwan on my own before, everything will be fine :T

A Superbowl commercial to enjoy… I can’t wait for it to come out. Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint!
